This Class 1A state baseball tournament quarterfinal at Principal Park looks like a monumental mismatch on paper.
Martensdale is 41-0, top-seeded, top-ranked, the defending state champion and winner of a national record 84 straight games. English Valleys finished the regular season with a 5-15 record. The Bears (9-15) stunned four opponents in the postseason to make it to state for the first time, led by 20-year-old head coach Matt Snakenberg.
