A Colorado man was robbed of his wallet Wednesday night in southwest Cedar Rapids, police said.
Russell Akers, 43, told officers he was walking his dog in the 300 block of 33rd Avenue SW a few minutes after 11:30 p.m. when three men approached him from behind and demanded money, according to police Sgt. Cristy Hamblin.
Hamblin said the men wore bandanas over their faces. Two brandished handguns, the third a long gun. The men struck Akers with their handguns, knocking him to the ground. He turned over his wallet after the men kicked him, and they left the area.
Akers, who suffered injuries to his left eye and face, was unable to provide a good description of the robbers.
