Man faces charges after boat collides with hoist on Lake Delhi

A Waverly man was charged with boating while intoxicated Saturday night after the boat he was operating collided with a hoist on Lake Delhi in Delaware County.

The Iowa DNR reports that Jay Breitbach, 26, was charged with boating while intoxicated after the boat he was operating hit a hoist on Lake Delhi shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday.

According to a DNR conservation officer, Breitbach was operating his boat near Freddie's Beach on Lake Delhi when another boat going in the same direction caused a wake causing Breitbach's boat to take a sharp turn. The vessel collided with a covered boat hoist, coming to rest on the bed of the hoist and causing the structure and its roof to collapse.

No one was seriously injured in the incident.
