Linn-Mar's Paige has broken foot

MARION -- Marcus Paige complained last week after playing in the McDonald's All-American Game about having pain in his left foot. He blamed it on the shoes McDonald's provided for him.

"I'm never wearing Adidas again," he kidded.

Turns out it wasn't the shoes after all. Paige was diagnosed this week with a stress fracture and will have surgery next week at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, though he is expected to be fully healed and ready to play by the time he enrolls at North Carolina in June.

In fact, Paige is in Portland, Ore., for the Nike Hoop Summit this weekend, though he obviously won't play. He has pulled out of the Jordan Brand Classic in North Carolina in a couple of weeks.

Paige scored four points and had seven assists in the McDonald's game in Chicago last week.
