Linn-Mar's Lassen out of ICU

Dec. 12, 2011 7:58 pm
The condition of injured Linn-Mar basketball player Matt Lassen has improved enough for him to be taken out of the intensive care unit at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, according to Linn-Mar Athletics Director Scott Mahmens.
Lassen, a junior forward, was knocked unconscious after hitting the back of his head on the floor while attempting to draw a charging foul in the first quarter of Linn-Mar's game last Friday night against Iowa City West. Teammate Marcus Paige then landed on top of him after blocking a shot.
Lassen was taken by paramedics off the floor on a stretcher and to St. Luke's Hospital. Swelling and bleeding in his brain caused him to be transported late Friday night to Iowa City.
It is unknown when Lassen will be discharged from the hospital.
