Linn-Mar's Kiah Stokes is in Colorado Springs for tryouts for the USA Basketball 17-and-under World Championship/Youth Olympic Games teams.
Stokes is one of 36 girls trying out. Ballard's Taylor Greenfield is another.
A 6-foot-3 senior-to-be, Stokes was on the national team that won a gold medal at the 16-and-under FIBA Americas Tournament.
The team will reassemble in Washington, D.C., for training July 5-7. The USA will play several practice games in Spain prior to arriving in Rodez, France, where it will begin playing in the FIBA 17U World Championship on July 16.
Stokes has not publicly divulged her “short list” of potential college choices. According to www.espn.com, though, her top five are Connecticut, Georgia, Maryland, Rutgers and Tennessee.
How would Kiah Stokes and Linn-Mar do in a national tournament? We'll find out. Sort of. (AP photo)
