In the Old Testament of the Bible pharaoh and the Egyptians clung to enslavement of the Israelites despite plagues of frogs, gnats, flies, epidemic boils, devastating hail and locusts. Ultimately it took the killing of the firstborn son in every Egyptian family before the pharaoh would let the Israelites go from slavery.
In modern times, we cling to fossil fuels, despite devastating, floods, hurricanes, droughts, and wildfires. Our current government is clinging even more fiercely to fossil fuels despite the known consequences. What will it take for us to let go of fossil fuels?
