Kremer enters break on roll; Kennedy wins Fort Madison tourney

Cedar Rapids Kennedy junior Luke Kremer entered the holiday break on a roll.
Kremer, ranked sixth at 135, beat No. 2 and state runner-up Gradey Gambrall of Iowa City West, 5-4, in overtime Thursday. He followed it with a title at the Fort Madison Invitational, beating New London/Winfield-Mount Union's 2A third-ranked Jake Kadel, a state runner-up and three-time state medalist, 7-5, in the finals.
Cougar teammate Ryan Sheldon recorded his 100th win en route to winning the 171-pound crown at Fort Madison. Sheldon, ranked third, beat Burlington's Matt Seabold in the semifinals to reach the win plateau before pinning Clear Creek Amana's Drew Cox, a state medalist ranked fourth in 2A, in the finals.
Kennedy won the tournament with 198.5 points, advancing five to the finals. Ryan Rodriguez (140) also won while Logan Kubovec (145) and Shane Williams (152) were second.
Cedar Rapids Washington heavyweight Tyler Burrell won for the Warriors.
