Knights of Columbus Regional Free-Throw Contest

Boys and girls throughout Eastern Iowa competed in the Knights of Columbus regional free-throw contest March 14 at La Salle Middle School.

Basketball players participated age groups, ranging from 10 to 14 years old.

Event champions for the boys were Marcus Martin of Solon (22 of 25) in 10-year-old group, 11-year-old Noah Heitshusen of Williamsburg (20 of 25), Christopher Krystofiak of Cedar Rapids (21 of 25) won the 12-year-old group, 13-year-old Craitin Andresen of Preston (21 of 25) and Christian J. Wright of DeWitt won the 14-year-old division, making 23 of 25.

Winners in the girls competition were Brooklyn Waller (20 of 25) and Hannah Pearcy (22 of 25), both of Maquoketa, the 10- and 11-year-old groups, 12-year-old Courtney Joens of Solon (19-25), Victoria Gritton of Marengo (18 of 25) was the top 13-year-old and Madison Parmenter of North English earned top honors in the 14-year-old division, making 21 of 25.

Regional champions advance to the state competition in Clarion on April 11.
