Joyeux Anniversaire (Happy Birthday) to me
I celebrated my birthday earlier this month. The knife in the photograph was a gift from my husband - along with cooking classes at Kirkwood Community College.
Some women might not appreciate cooking classes for a birthday present, but I'm thrilled. Maybe I'll learn the proper way to hold a knife so I can chop vegetables as fast as the chefs on Food Network's Chopped.
I am enrolled in the Discovering International Food Series, where I will learn about French, Italian, Mexican and Japanese cuisine. Class begins Jan. 25, so check back for updates on my progress and pictures of what I make.
I am supposed to bring my chef's knife to class and an apron. Does anyone know where I can buy an apron in Eastern Iowa?
