Jacqueline “Jackie” Svoboda, 85, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Celebration of Life will be 12 noon, Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Brosh Chapel. The inurnment will be in Cedar Memorial Cemetery.
Jackie was born on August 15, 1938, in rural Benton County, the daughter of LaVerne Edward and Anita Fern (Sanders) Langham. She married Edward White. He later passed away in February of 1976. She married Lyle Lee Svoboda, on August 3, 1978. He passed away in May of 2021. Jackie worked at Turner Microphone and Hawkeye/US Bank until retiring at the age of 62. She loved to read, sew, puzzles, and most of all spending time with her family.
Jackie is survived by her children, Pam (Rick) Post, Phil White, Stacy (Mike) Sebby, Trent Svoboda; her grandchildren Matt Post, April (Rich) Smith, Nick (Sarah) White, Janelle White, Alec (Madilyn) White, Cappra Svoboda, Braeden Svoboda, Micaela Sebby, Jessica Sebby; her great-grandchildren, Luke Post, Nicholas Post, Zachary Post, Bricen White, Ayla Fine, Kennedy Smith, Xander Smith, Eleanor White, Jack White, Alice White and Carson White; granddaughter-in-law Dee Post; her sister Sharrel M. Scherer; special cousins Marion, Geri, and Junda, as well as her nieces and nephews.
Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Edward, her husband Lyle, her son Gregory White, her brother-in-law Arthur Scherer, and two special cousins Colleen and Evelyn.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Janice, Cel, and Steve for taking Mom to her hair appointments, taking care of Dad’s rock garden, bringing in the garbage/recycle bins, and for being there for her.
