UPDATE: An Iowa City man was charged with slapping, punching and strangling a woman while he trapped her in her apartment for nearly five hours over the Easter weekend.
Sir Mason Phillips Isles, AKA Wufax Isles, 30, of 2601 Lakeside Dr., was charged with false imprisonment, an aggravated misdemeanor, and assault with intent or displaying a dangerous weapon, a serious misdemeanor.
He is accused of slapping, punching and strangling a woman, causing her multiple cuts, bruises and fear that she would lose consciousness or die.
Isles would not let the woman leave the bedroom and bathroom of her apartment from 10:30 p.m. Sunday to 3 a.m. Monday, blocking the door and shoving her hand away when she tried to reach for the doorknob, police reported.
Isles kept the woman's phone from her and put her in a wrist lock when she tried to reach for it, police reported.
“You want to call the cops?” Isles asked the woman, according to police. “By the time they get here there will be nothing they can do for you because I will kill you (expletive). You think I am a joke, that this is a game to you.”
Isles has prior drug and assault convictions, according to Iowa Courts Online.
He is being held at the Johnson County Jail on $7,500 cash bond.
