The Iowa Department of Corrections announced that Steven DeWayne Daniels, an inmate assigned to the Iowa Medical and Classification Center at Oakdale, died Wednesday in the center's Hospice Care Medical Unit. Daniels died of natural causes due to liver failure, according to state officials. Daniels, 62, was serving a 60-year sentence from Keokuk County for attempt to commit murder, first-degree burglary, terrorism, assault while participating in a felony, and receiving, transporting and possession of a firearm by a felon. This sentence began on Oct. 9, 1997.
