IGHSAU releases swim regional sites

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has released the sites for swim regionals, starting Thursday, Oct. 27 with diving and concluding with swim events on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The Cedar Rapids Metro will host two sites. Cedar Rapids Kennedy, coached by John Ross, and Cedar Rapids Washington, coached by Megan Lewis, will host the state qualifier meet. Swim event champions at the six regionals automatically qualify for the state meet with the next 18 fastest regional times across the state advancing to state at the Marshalltown YMCA on Saturday, Nov. 5. For diving, the top four scorers from each regional and the next top 12 scorers from all six sites earn berths to state, which will be held Friday, Nov. 4, also at Marshalltown.

Waterloo West will host a regional at Central Middle School. Fort Dodge, the previous host of the state meet, Johnston (Summit Middle School) and Southeast Polk will also host regional meets.

Team assignments for the six sites will be released at a later date.
