IGHSAU releases new power rankings

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has released its latest set of team and individual power rankings.
Bettendorf sits atop the team ratings with 1,605 points based off its performance at the Little Hawk Invitational. MVC powerhouse Cedar Falls is third at 1,593. Decorah is the top Gazette area team, holding seventh with 1,395. Iowa City West (1,342) and Cedar Rapids Kennedy (1,278) are eighth and ninth, respectively.
Decorah is highly rated in many events. The Vikings' foursome of Allison Orvis, Hannah Maher, Lauren Smith and Kenzie Smith combine for the second fastest reported 200 medley relay in 1:51.42, trailing Mason City by less than two seconds. Maher is also the top ranked area swimmer in the 200 IM (third at 2:07.71), and 500 Free (third at 5:15.00). She is also ranked fifth in the 100 fly (1:00.42). Orvis is fifth in the 200 free with a time of 1:58.39. The Vikings also boast the fourth-best 200 free relay and are third in the 400 free relay.
Former 100 back state champion Beth Eyanson of Iowa City High is third in the 100 fly (59.80) and fifth in the 100 back (1:01.29). Iowa City West's Grace Murray is fourth in the 100 fly (59.88) and fifth in the 500 free (5:16.34).
The Gazette area is best represented in the 100 fly. In addition to Eyanson and Murray, Maher (1:00.42) is fifth and Cedar Rapids Washington's Jill Broghammer(1:00.72), who is eighth.
Linn-Mar and Cedar Rapids Jefferson are represented in the top 10 of the 100 breaststroke. The Lions' Emilie Berg (1:08.78) is eighth, while the J-Hawks' Abbey Wharton (1:09.18) is ninth.
