Gunderson, Nelson head IHSGCA 1A rankings

Central City's Christy Nelson and Lisbon's Tyler Gunderson are top-ranked individuals in the first installment of Class 1A rankings by the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association. Gunderson, a three-time state qualifier, owns an adjusted score of 37.15, while Nelson, a top-10 finisher at last year's state tournament, is listed at 41.30. HLV is second in the 1A team rankings.
Cedar Rapids Xavier's Kimmy Askelson, who has signed to golf at Drake next year, is second in the 4A rankings behind only Pleasant valley's Anna Cullinan. The Saints are third behind Pleasant Valley and Mississippi Valley Conference foe Cedar Falls, which is first. Xavier teammate Maddie Bertsch is eighth.
Cedar Rapids Jefferson's Megan Furnish, who won the CRANDIC meet last week, is 12th.
Williamsburg and Waukon's Morgan McMillan are ranked fifth in the 3A team and individual girls rankings, respectively. In class 2A, Iowa City Regina's Cat Srief is ranked second, while Dyersville Beckman's Ellie Ament is third. The Blazers are fifth as a team.
Mitch Jacobi of Belle Plaine is second in the 1A individual rankings and the Plainesmen are ranked No.1 as a team. Valley Community is third.
Washington Demons standout Joseph is ranked second in the 3A boys rankings. The Demons are eighth in the team rankings. Decorah is the top area team, owning the fifth spot, one spot ahead of Williamsburg. The Vikings Nick Nelson is seventh individually.
