CLASS 4A CHAMPIONSHIP
Iowa City West (24-1) vs. Ankeny (22-3)
Time -- 8 p.m.
Coaches -- B.J. Mayer is 214-114 in 14 years, including 87-34 in five seasons at West. Scott DeJong has compiled a 492-111 mark in 24 years, including 368-97 in 19 seasons at Ankeny.
Key players -- Ally Disterhoft (6-0, jr.) paces West at 16.9 points per game while Mckenzie Piper (6-0, sr.) scores at a 13.3-point clip. Maddie Manning (6-2, sr.) leads Ankeny at 16.1 points per game; Shayla Starkenburg (6-0, sr.) adds 9.0 ppg.
How they got here -- Second-ranked West fought past archrival Iowa City High, 55-52, in the quarterfinals, then scored 49 second-half points in a 64-50 semfinal win over Waukee. No. 4 Ankeny advanced with a 39-25 victory over Cedar Rapids Xavier and a 47-45 triumph over No. 1 Southeast Polk.
