Garry M Joseph, 69, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa, on Thursday, June 3, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 10, at the Cedar Memorial-Westside Chapel in Cedar Rapids. A livestream of the visitation may be accessed on the funeral home website under the obituary for Garry, under the video tab starting and 4 p.m. and ending at 5 p.m. A gravesite service with military honors will be offered at 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 11, at the Rock Island National Cemetery.
Garry was born on Dec. 26, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of the late Revere Y. and Amy (Sheronick) Joseph. Garry was a retired U.S. Navy Veteran who served in the Vietnam War. Garry was an enormous "Parrot-Head" and an avid fan of Jimmy Buffet and his bands. Through his devotion to Jimmy Buffet, and seeing over 100 concerts, Garry met lifelong friends and parrot-heads.
Those left to cherish Garry's memory are his siblings: Sam (Diane) Joseph of Spring Lake, N.C., Sue (Todd) Mattison of Des Moines and Jean Joseph of Marion, Iowa; his nieces and nephews, Matthew Joseph, Leah Joslyn and Sarah Mattison, his loving extended family; and his son, Tony Fabiszak of Mississippi.
Garry was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Fabiszak-Joseph; his parents; and daughter, Angie Fabiszak.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made in his name to the Oldolf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa; the US Humane Society, www.humane.com; or a charity of one's choice.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at the Oldorf Hospice House for all of the care and support they showed toward Garry as he was in their care.
