Outfielder Michael Harrington will play for the Beloit Snappers this weekend, as they take on the Cedar Rapids Kernels in a three-game series at Veterans Memorial Stadium that opens the Midwest League season. The first game is 6:35 Thursday night.
Harrington is a former Cedar Rapids Xavier all-stater who is making his full-season professional debut. He was a 13th-round draft choice of the Minnesota Twins last year out of the College of Charleston, hitting .266 in 63 games for Rookie-level Elizabethton. That included 18 doubles, nine home runs and 44 RBIs.
Harrington, 23, is a left-handed hitter and right-handed thrower. He was drafted in 2007 in the 38th round by the Baltimore Orioles but did not sign.
