Apr. 4, 2014 3:00 pm
A former Benton County Jail corrections officer was charged this week for signing another person's name on a jail fingerprint card.
Steven Fischer, 21, made his initial appearance Wednesday in Benton County court on a charge of tampering with records, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was released without bond.
According to criminal complaint, Fischer forced a signature of another person on an applicant fingerprint card without their permission March 20.
Benton County Sheriff Randy Forsyth said Friday Fischer gave the department his resignation letter in mid-March to be effective at the end of March.
Benton County Attorney David Thompson hasn't return phone messages left Thursday and Friday.
