Expect UNI baseball finality Wednesday

Sources have said there should be a final verdict on University of Northern Iowa's baseball program announced sometime Wednesday.
School officials announced in early March the program was being cut for financial reasons, though it could be saved for three years if $1.2 million was raised by April 5. About $250,000 was raised in that time frame, well short of what was needed, according to www.supportunibaseball.com.
UNI athletics director Troy Dannen said Monday supporters of the program had met with school officials, bringing forth proposals to fund baseball without any school support. Sources said Tuesday those proposals have been rejected, and barring an unforseen turnaround, the program will be cut at the end of this season.
