Eggers named NSIC Wrestler of the Year

After winning the 165-pound NCAA Division II title, Travis Eggers, a former MFL MarMac state champ, was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Wrestler of the Year. It's the second time he earned the award. He last won it for the 2007-08 season, placing fourth at nationals.
Teammates Tyler Mumbulo (125), Kyle Pedretti (133), also an MFL MarMac teammate of Eggers, and Mitch Norton (174) earned conference honors as well.
The NSIC all-conference teams had an Iowa flavor former Iowa preps on the teams include Laramie Shaffer (Winterset), Nate Herda (Central Lyon), Marcus Edgington (Hinton), Ty Copsey (Glenwood) and Gavin Nelson (Missouri Valley). They all compete for Augustana (S.D.)

Travis Eggers has been named the Wrestler of the Year in the Northern Sun Conference after completing his storied career with the Peacock wrestling program. The honor marks the second time in Eggers' four-year career that he has been named the NSIC Wrestler of the Year in 2007-08 after finishing fourth in the Nation.
The Monona, Iowa native capped off an undefeated Division II, 20-0, and NSIC, 7-0, season enroot to the 165 pound NCAA Division II National Championship. Eggers, 26-3 on the season, won three matches at the NCAA Super Region #3 Championships on his way to his first regional title. He was dominant in his three matches, which included a pair of major decision wins and a win by fall in the championship match. For his efforts, Eggers was voted by the coaches as the Outstanding Wrestler of the Meet.
At the NCAA Championships Eggers ran his win streak to nineteen matches as he racked up four more victories including an 8-3 win in the National Championship match. In his career Eggers holds a 100-34 record, was a four-time NCAA Region Finalist, a four-time NCAA National Qualifier, a three-time NCAA All-American and National Semifinals and a two-time National Finalist.
Four Upper Iowa wrestlers have earned NSIC All-Conference honors including three first team spots.

Mitch Norton (174), and Eggers all earned first team honors after claiming NCAA Super Region 3 Titles, while Kyle Pedretti (133) earned second team recognition for his runner up finish at the regional.
The Peacocks closed the 2009-10 campaign in a 3rd place tie with Nebraska-Kearney at the NCAA Division II Championships in Omaha, Nebraska. All four of the Peacocks All-Conference wrestlers earned All-American honors. After Eggers' championship, Mumbulo was the National Runner Up, and Norton and Pedretti each claimed third place in their respective weight classes.
The full NSIC All-Conference first and second teams appear below. The highest place-winner at the NCAA Regional Tournament from each weight class earned a spot on the all-conference first team. The runner up was named all-conference second team. In addition, any wrestler that earned NCAA All-American honors was also be recognized as second team all-conference.
