Driver hurt, traffic slowed by fallen utility pole after Collins Road crash

Matthew Crowder, 36, of Albuquerque, N.M., was hospitalized after his vehicle struck a pole along Collins Road NE Tuesday morning, police said.

Crowder was driving east about 7:25 a.m. when he lost control near the Rockwell Drive intersection and struck a utility pole, Police Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said.

Crowder was taken to St. Luke's Hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries, according to Hamblin. There were no other injuries, and the investigation continues.

Traffic in the area was slowed for hours this morning as crews worked to repair the utility pole.
