Don't worry, Ken Hopkins said.
Kyle Dunn is fine.
"I think his performance (Tuesday at Dubuque) was indicative of that," said Hopkins, Dunn's track coach at Linn-Mar High School.
Dunn captured the 110-meter high hurdles title in 14.32 seconds, a mark that rates second in Iowa (all classes) this season. He also ran a 49-second split in the 1,600-meter relay as Linn-Mar captured the team title.
A senior who has signed with the University of Arkansas, Dunn has been used sparingly through the chilly early season because of sore hamstrings.
Yet, he leads the state in the 400-meter hurdles (52.43 seconds) and the open 400 (48.55).
"We'll put him in more and more events as we move on," Hopkins said.
Other leaders
According to quikstatsiowa.com, the area boasts state leaders in four boys' events and four girls' events.
Keegan DeMeulenaere of Belle Plaine is the boys' leader in the 110-meter highs at 14.30 seconds while Nick Day of Solon is No. 1 in the high jump (6-9).
Iowa City West's girls lead the state in three relays -- the 400-meter (49.38), 800-meter (1:44.00) and 1,600-meter (4:02.66). The Women of Troy are second in the sprint medley and third in the 3,200-meter relay.
North Fayette's Lauren Smith is the discus leader at 152 feet, 8 inches.
