By Elizabeth Cordes: I was in third grade when it happened. Being so young, I didn't quite understand the whole concept of how catastrophic it truly was.
I remember sitting in class when a high school teacher came over the intercom and told us what occurred that morning. I sat and listened but was ultimately confused. I didn't understand why someone would fly a plane into two U.S. buildings.
The rest of the day I noticed everyone around me was so quiet and somber, while I walked around with millions of questions. These answers would come to me in later years. I almost feel ashamed of feeling so unaware and unaffected. This truly is a day that I will never forget!
