Commercial printer to cease day shift

CEDAR RAPIDS — Color Web Printers in southwest Cedar Rapids, which prints The Gazette, will discontinue its day-shift printing operations. All day-shift work will transfer to night-shift operation beginning May 16.

A total of 22 positions — 12 full-time, five part-time and five part-full positions — will be eliminated as a result of the changes.

The change in the production schedule come following adjustments in commercial printing strategies at several regional media operations.

The transfer to night operations will allow the printer to better manage the current book of business while continuing to produce a quality product.

Color Web Printers is a division of Gazette Communications, which is owned by Folience Corp.

Color Web Printers prints and distributes numerous Iowa publications as well as The Gazette.
