Publicity stunt or legitimate pick? You decide.
The Chicago Steel surprised more than a few people Wednesday when they took female goaltender Alex Rigsby in the 16th round of the United States Hockey League's 2009 Entry Draft.
Rigsby is from Delafield, Wis., and played for the Midget Minor Milwaukee Jr. Admirals boys program. She also was selected to the U.S. Under-18 national women's team.
If you're thinking Chicago's pick was more a publicity stunt, also consider it selected forward Jake Chelios (son of NHL defenseman Chris) and David Bondra (son of former NHL winger Peter).
