Chaffee joins Chatwood in Cedar Rapids

The Cedar Rapids Kernels announced Thursday that pitcher Ryan Chaffee will join the club from Los Angeles Angels extended spring training. That puts the active roster at a full 25 players.
Chaffee is a right-hander from Chipola (Fla.) Junior College who was a third-round draft pick of the Angels last year. He has yet to pitch in a professional game because of surgery last summer for a broken foot. Baseball America has him ranked 21st in a list of Angels top 30 prospects.
He joins righty Tyler Chatwood in the Kernels' rotation. As I reported after last night's game against Clinton, Chatwood also is coming to Cedar Rapids. He was Los Angeles' second-round draft pick last year.
