Central boys, Solon girls reign in Wamac

DeWitt Central's boys steamrolled through the Wamac Conference track championships Thursday while Solon's girls unseated Mount Vernon-Lisbon.
At DeWitt, the Sabers won eight events and tallied 159 points. Solon was second with 99, followed by Clear Creek Amana (83) and Western Dubuque (68).
Solon's Nick Day swept the jumping events while teammate Collin Bream was the champion of the 1,600 and 3,200.
At Dyersville, Solon outscored Mount Vernon-Lisbon, 130-122. Williamsburg was third with 79, followed by Western Dubuque (70).
Solon's Lauren Benzing won the 1,500 and 3,000 while Emily Bransky captured the 100 and the long jump. Williamsburg's Dakotah Goodell swept the throws.
The Spartans won seven events, MV-L five.
