Cedar Valley Christian to host 1st postseason basketball game

These kids have done all right.
The Cedar Valley Christian Huskies have done well enough in their first basketball season as official members of the Iowa High School Athletic Association to secure a postseason home game. CVC will host Alburnett in a Class 1A district second-rounder Feb. 16, as announced Monday by the IHSAA.
The ironic thing is Cedar Valley Christian is playing just two of its 21 regular-season games in its home gym because it is very small and because it had to scramble to schedule games since it is not in a conference. The Huskies (8-7 entering this week) picked up a significant win last weekend over tradition 1A power Cedar Falls NU High, 63-59.
The winner of the CVC-Alburnett game would most likely play Lone Tree in a district semifinal, Feb. 21. Lone Tree is the top seed in District 9.
Here is a link to the complete 1A and 2A district and substate pairings. Results for teams in games 5 through 15 determined the district pairings.
