CEDAR RAPIDS – Police arrested a Cedar Rapids man Tuesday evening after they say he used pepper spray to get past two officers.
Officers were sent around 6 p.m. to a report of a disturbance between a father and son at 7200 First Ave. NW. They encountered Patrick J. Cunningham, 22, who tried to get past them to go to the basement as they were speaking with him.
The officers stopped Cunningham, and he responded by pulling the pepper spray from his pocket and spraying it in the faces of both officers, according to the police report. Cunningham ran downstairs, with the officers in pursuit.
Cunningham was arrested on suspicion of assault on peace officers. The officers were seen at St. Luke's Hospital and released.
