Brenda Sue Path, 53, of Mount Vernon, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 11, 2021. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon. Private family burial at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband, Matt; parents, Larry and Barb Lovell; brother, Bryan (Jody) Lovell; sister, Julie (Kyle) Merritts; nephew, Zac; and nieces, Chelsea, Liz, Brianna and Kaitlyn.
Brenda was born April 5, 1968, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1986. Brenda continued her education at Kirkwood and Mount Mercy before earning her Master in Nursing from Walden University. Her nursing career spanned over 30 years, the last 20 at Mercy Medical Center. Her great work ethic and desire to always do the right thing was admired by her colleagues. Brenda enjoyed being a mentor to students and new nurses.
On Aug. 28, 2004, she married Matt Path at their home in Mount Vernon. Brenda loved to work in her flower gardens and put together her own custom cookbooks full of recipes. She and Matt traveled extensively with their motorhome and motorcycle. Their travels took them to many places in the United States, Mexico and also to several countries in Europe, including Germany, Switzerland and Ireland. Brenda's beautiful spirit and sense of humor will be missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Cody.
