Bonnie worked several jobs in her career including the war plant in Savanna, IL during World War II; she later worked for the Anamosa Schools as kitchen manager at Strawberry Hill Elementary, retiring after 24 years. She loved attending Hawkeye Bowl Games and watching the Cubs. She also enjoyed watching the grandkids and great-grandkids at sporting events and fishing when she had a chance. She lived with Sid and Gayla the last 14 years in her own "special apartment". Bonnie enjoyed "baby season" and watching Gayla and her volunteers feed baby raccoons, possums, squirrels and skunks. She would snuggle the babies and then tuck them in their warm beds.
Surviving is her son Sidney, wife Gayla, grandchildren Cassie (Rob) Nichols, Wally (Jodi), great-grandchildren Lauryn Myers, Cade Myers, Gabe Fisher, Nash Fisher, Carter Myers, Sydney Myers, Hayden Myers and Cooper Myers, brother Larry Denniston and niece Carol Eggert, nephews Mark (Doris) Denniston, Pete Denniston, Scott (Boomer) (Pam) Denniston, Kelly (Kim) Denniston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Preston (Jigger) Myers and John Bauer, brother Gene Denniston, sisters-in-law Lorraine Denniston and Barb Denniston, her special grandson Shad Myers and nephew Chester Denniston.
Following her wishes there will be no funeral. A celebration of life will be held August 1 from 4-7 pm at the Anamosa Bowling Alley. A private burial will be held at a later date.
