Bonnie Alice Sindelar of Cedar Rapids passed away Monday, May, 2021, one day short of her 92nd birthday at the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, Iowa. A private Celebration of Life will be held by her family. Cedar Memorial is serving the family.
Born May 25, 1929, in Oldham, S.D., Bonnie spent her early adult years working as a dental hygienist.
Bonnie married Albert Anton Sindelar Oct. 8, 1950, at Olivet Presbyterian Church. While raising their three sons, she spent many hours volunteering at schools and in the church. Later, she was one of the Lunch Ladies who prepared meals at Cleveland Elementary School. Along the way, she directed the Olivet Kitchen Band, a group of friends who wore exaggerated hats as they played and sang at local care facilities, bringing a joyful good time through songs and stories.
She was preceded in death by Al, her husband of 70 years; parents, Arnold E. and Thelma M. (Noah) Apland; brother, Richard Apland; and sister, Phyllis Land.
Bonnie is survived and lovingly remembered by sons, Dennis (Carol) Sindelar of Cedar Rapids, Jeff (Deb) Sindelar of Newhall and Kevin (Karen) Sindelar of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Dana Sindelar, Rick Sindelar, Michael Sindelar, Alex (Kristen) Sindelar, Devon Sindelar, Sarah (Spencer) Garness and Eric Sindelar; eight great-grandchildren in Cedar Rapids; and sister-in-law, Marjorie (Chris) Little of North Marshfield, Mass.
