Big Ten Media Day: Ohio State Coach Jim Tressel

(Iowa visits Ohio State on Nov. 7. … The Hawkeyes have lost their last five games in Columbus and are 1-10 vs. OSU since 1992. … This year's game is sandwiched between the Buckeyes' trips to Penn State and Michigan.)
CHICAGO -- Comments from Ohio State Coach Jim Tressel Monday at the Big Ten's football Media Day:
"We need to grow very, very quickly. Sometimes the only way you can grow is through real experience."
(On Terrelle Pryor) "He's a guy who's passionate about being good. ... Not unlike our team, the maturity in September is going to be a real challenge. We feel real good about him."
(Scheduling) "I think any time you challenging yourself it's a positive thing. As I look at our conference's schedules, there's a heck of a lot of challenges on those schedules. ... When you're taken to your limit and then some, it can make you better."
(Tressel is not a dynamic speaker. He doesn't really need to be. Four straight Big Ten titles allows him to be as vanilla as he wants.)
(Still waiting for a nugget ... something)
(On Big Ten inferiority complex of sorts) "We spend time in meetings and we always talk about how we can get better. Even in the years after we were 5-2 in bowls. This year we were 1-6 and maybe that discussion gets even more impactful or whatever. ... I don't know that anyone in this conference has an inferiority complex. ... We take it very, very serious that every time we line up in the conference we're representing this league. When those bowl games we're rooting like crazy."
