Benton USSSA Team in Final Four at World Series
The Benton Blue Sox 13U baseball team did something this year no one thought possible...it earned its way into the 2011 USSSA World Series tournament. As one of two Iowa teams to be in the tournament, they came up against kids from as far away as Oklahoma. As the #1 team in the United States, most teams were there to see what they could do and to meet this team from Iowa.
Iowans should be proud of these 12 boys and their coaches, who were from several towns in Benton County. They worked hard all year and fought for every run they earned.
They won the USSSA State Tournament, ended up as league champs, and placed 3rd in the nation at the World Series...not too shabby for a team from Iowa!
