While waiting in the lobby for our Cedar Valley Travel Motorcoach to load up for our drive to Cooley Law School Stadium in downtown Lansing, Kernels outfielder Justin Bass asked if he could borrow my Motel room key to access the Fitness Room. Justin politely explained to me that he had just spent the last half hour talking hitting with his father, former major league star Kevin Bass on his cell phone. His father had given him a few things to work on even though he has not seen his at-bats here in Lansing. One of the things Kevin recommended that Justin do was to check out some form of his hitting mechanics in the mirror. Justin told me that he still relies upon his father as one of his most trusted hitting coaches. Mirrors aren't strictly for personal vanity or to see your weight lifting technique in the gym. Based on his father's advice, Justin used one to try to help himself improve some aspect of his hitting earlier this afternoon!
