Authorities determine Galena woman was stabbed to death

One of the subjects found dead in a Jo Daviess County house fire last year died from a stab wound, investigators revealed Thursday.
Officials at the Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office said today that Margaret A. Marnowski was stabbed once in the chest before she was found dead by authorities on September 19, 2010 at her home in Galena, Ill.
Marnowski's husband, James A. Marnowski, was also found dead in the house. Authorities say he died from asphyxiation from the fire.
A release from the sheriff's office didn't say the husband stabbed his wife, but authorities do not believe anyone else was involved. The investigation is still underway.
