Annice “Ann” Evelyn Allen, 89, passed away at home on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 12, from 4 to 7 pm at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Private family graveside services will be held at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Tiffin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Tiffin Grace United Methodist Church or Tiffin First Responders. Ann was born on July 11, 1935, in Solon, Iowa the fourth of five children. On August 21, 1955, she married Ned Allen, making a commitment to life on the farm that lasted more than 60 years. She thrived on many things, do-it-yourself projects, gardening and volunteering. From her gardens, she was ahead of her time with a garden to table approach, canning to have homegrown food all year round. Additionally, she donated vegetables to the local food bank and provided flowers for church services for 43 years. Known for her kolaches, cinnamon rolls, sweet pickles and horseradish, she gave these and her time to coordinate Tiffin United Methodist church events, and many Clear Creek school fundraisers where her children attended.
Ann’s family includes her sister, Lois Ryan; brothers, Earnest and Vernon Yarbrough; her children, Greg (Linda) Allen, Tracy (Fritz) Jackson, Joy (Greg) Tinnes, Jay Allen; grandchildren Mallory (Ben), Lindsay (Stu), Sky, Nathan, Jackson, Logan; and great-grandchildren Emma and Mason.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ned, son Mark and oldest brother Charles Yarbrough.
