From Monet to Picasso: The Riley Collection Exhibition Opening
Saturday, (5/22)
It's no secret that the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art has hosted works from some of the greatest artists of the 20th Century. But this weekend, it welcomes even more. The Riley Collection - a series of impressive (and little-known) works collected over the years by Corridor natives Tom and Nan Riley - goes on public display for the first time this
Saturday. No matter what kind of interest you have in art, we think you'll be impressed with the breathtaking works of Degas, Monet, Cone, Picasso and many more.
From Monet to Picasso: The Riley Collection Exhibition Opening
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday (05/22), Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, 410 Third Ave. SE,
Cedar Rapids, adults $5, students & seniors $4, kids free, www.crma.org
The Tallest Man On Earth
Friday, (5/21)
Don't look for this guy to stand out in a crowd based on his stature alone. But, as he's sure to prove Friday in Iowa City, he's anything but average. His deeply rooted lyrics and simple - yet oh-so-soulful - sounds aren't hard to fall for. And as one reviewer recently coined, “When it comes to passion, The Tallest Man on Earth can be spotted from miles away.” Now that's the kind of musician we can look up to.
The Tallest Man On Earth
8 p.m. Friday (05/21), The Mill, 120 E. Burlington St., Iowa City, $10 in advance, $12 at the door, www.icmill.com

A note from Rick Springfield:
“Please let everybody know how much I appreciate their being able to move our show. It has been over a decade since I have had to do this. I must have picked up something when I was on the plane. If I thought there was a chance I could move by the weekend, I'd be there. Again, I'm sorry and we'll do a great show when we're finally there.”
About David Cassidy:
When ABC-TV cast David Cassidy as its star in “The Partridge Family” in 1970, it launched one of the most astonishing careers in entertainment history. Before the series had even aired its initial broadcast, Cassidy was already on the cover of teen magazines throughout the world and had a No. 1 single, “I Think I Love You,” which would become the best-selling record of 1970.
That was just the beginning. Pop and rock tunes followed, and by the age of 21, Cassidy was the world's highest paid solo live performer. During five whirlwind years, he was nominated for a Grammy, performed sold-out concerts in the largest stadiums and arenas all across the globe, and his fan club grew to become the biggest in history, exceeding even Elvis Presley and the Beatles.
His career album sales – highlighted by 18 gold and platinum recordings, including four consecutive multi-platinum releases – exceeded 25 million units worldwide.
Cassidy is one of few artists who has had hits in the charts in all decades since the 70s and he has never failed to pull in crowds in theaters or concerts in more than 30 years.
