CLASS 3A
IOWA CITY WEST (18-1) vs. SIOUX CITY WEST (12-7)
When: 5 p.m.
Where: Cownie Park, Des Moines
Noteworthy: Top-seeded Trojans have reeled off 14 consecutive wins after April 9 loss to Cedar Rapids Washington (3-2). Alex Troester leads way offensively with 16 goals. Mueng Sunday and Paris Martins are other top players with state tourney experience. Roger Whitebeaver has 11 goals to lead Sioux City West, which has won six games in row to return to state for second straight year.
IOWA CITY HIGH (16-2) vs. WEST DES MOINES VALLEY (15-6)
When: 5 p.m.
Where: Cownie Park, Des Moines
Noteworthy: City High is No. 2 seed in 3A, Valley No. 7. Little Hawks' losses were to West Des Moines Dowling (2-1) and top-seeded Iowa City West (4-2). Three players have scored double-digit goals, led by junior Fernando Pacheco (19). He also has 14 assists. Senior Tyler Chavez missed four games with injury but returned for substate final. He has 14 goals, Aaron McDonough has 10. Valley's six losses include 3-2 to Iowa City West.

CLASS 2A
CLEAR CREEK-AMANA (13-4) vs. DUBUQUE WAHLERT (11-6-1)
When: 2:30 p.m.
Where: Cownie Park, Des Moines
Noteworthy: Second year in row to state for CC-A, but second year in row as eighth seed. Top player is senior Ryan Hall, one of few Clippers with club soccer experience. He has 24 goals and 13 assists. Seniors Austin Mussig and Caleb Sedlacek have 13 and 11 goals, respectively. Top-seeded Wahlert, of course, benefits by playing predominantly 3A schedule in Mississippi Valley Conference. Golden Eagles beat fellow 2A entrant Cedar Rapids Xavier in regular season, 3-2.
CEDAR RAPIDS XAVIER (8-8-1) vs. NORWALK (13-5)
When: 2:30 p.m.
Where: Cownie Park, Des Moines
Noteworthy: Saints seek third straight 2A title, with familiar foe in first round. Xavier beat Norwalk in last season's championship game, 1-0. Xavier is No. 6 seed despite .500 record because of strong 3A-heavy schedule. Senior Chad Gilmer's nine goals lead club which has lost five games in either overtime or penalty kicks. Lone common opponent between teams is Cedar Rapids Kennedy, which both beat by a goal.

CLASS 1A
IOWA CITY REGINA (15-5-1) vs. COUNCIL BLUFFS ST. ALBERT (15-6)
When: Noon
Where: Cownie Park, Des Moines
Noteworthy: Regals gun for fourth straight 1A title but have work cut out as fifth seed. Junior Aaron Schmitz is far and away top goal scorer with 27. No one else scored in double figures. Sophomore Francisco Barajas is St. Albert's leading goal scorer with 14. Falcons have won nine matches in row. Regina won regular-season encounter at neutral site, 2-1.
DYERSVILLE BECKMAN (18-0-1) vs. NEVADA (11-7)
When: Noon
Where: Cownie Park, Des Moines
Noteworthy: Beckman is tournament's lone unbeaten team but still couldn't get top seed in class. Blazers are No. 2 behind Waterloo Columbus, which it beat twice in regular season. Beckman has only one senior on roster (Miles Link). Sophomore Adam Grover and juniors Adam Noethe and Eric Dunkel have combined for 68 goals. Nevada lost to 1A entrant Iowa City Regina in regular season, 3-2.
SOLON (11-5-2) vs. WEST LIBERTY (13-4-1)
When: Noon
Where: Cownie Park, Des Moines
Noteworthy: Third-seeded Solon finished second to Regina in 1A last season and returns to state with almost entirely new lineup. Senior Austin Dall leads Spartans with 10 goals. Goalkeeper Joe Weeks allowed just seven goals in 15 games, recording .936 save percentage. Senior Dalvi Acevedo (17) and freshman Raudel Fierro (15) are sixth-seeded West Liberty's top goal scorers. Teams played twice in regular season, with one game a scoreless draw. WL won the other game, 2-1.
