WOW! 70 YEARS!

Sylvester (Sy) Hinz and Joanne Hinz (Bott) celebrated their 70th anniversary with a family luncheon that was held on November 2 at the American Legion in Marion. They also celebrated with a special marriage blessing during Mass on Saturday, November 23, given by the Rev. Douglas Loecke, at St. Matthew Catholic church in Cedar Rapids. Sy and Joanne were united in marriage by the Rev. J. D. Kearn on October 30, 1954 at the old St. Matthew Catholic church in Cedar Rapids. The wedding was followed by a reception at the KV Cafe in Marion. Sy and Joanne have been lifelong residents of the Cedar Rapids, Hiawatha, & Marion area. They have 6 children: Dennis Hinz (Leia), Denise Hinz (deceased), Kevin Hinz (Chris), Kendra Hinz, DeAnne Hinz, and Karen Knapp (Tony), 13 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
