Gerald and the former Lois Solem were married on October 8, 1960, at St. Patrick in Winthrop. The couple's children include, Bob (Lisa) Gaffney of Oskaloosa, Scott (Kristie) Gaffney of Greenacres, WA, Angela (Bill) Kearbey of Des Moines, Roxanne (Mark) Skender of Chicago, IL, and Renae (Bill) Kanellis of Manchester. They have 12 grandchildren.
