John and Karen Clark-Hansen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 25th. Married at Ascension Lutheran Church in Marion, Iowa, on Aug. 25, 1973, they both graduated from the University of Iowa in the late-’70s. Karen enlisted in the Navy in 1979 (John had already served in Vietnam) and served for 20 years, sharing memorable times in Iceland, Bermuda, Hawaii, Norfolk and England before returning home to Marion in 1999. They have one daughter, Meagan.
