65-Year Anniversary

On June 2, 2021, Leo "Tom" and Sondra Jo (Primmer) Lowder will celebrate their 65th Anniversary. They were married right after Sondra graduated from Washington High School in Vinton. Tom was from Belle Plaine/Shellsburg areas and spent a summer in basic training in San Diego, CA, where

he was injured and given an honorable discharge. They met at the canning factory in Vinton and

dated for 2 1/2 years before eloping to Cedar Rapids and marrying at the Methodist Church. They moved into an apartment in Cedar Rapids and proceeded to have 2 daughters, Lezlie and Stacey, and 1 son, Todd. They have given us 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grand-daughter. Tom worked for FMC for 26 years and Methwick for 10 years. Sondra worked for the Boys and Girls Club and MCI. They owned the Orange Julius at Westdale for 10 years.
