Holiday Face-Off Hockey Tourney in Coralville
Catie Kriewald/Iowa City-Coralville Hockey Association
Dec. 17, 2010 12:57 pm
CORALVILLE (December 15, 2010) – On Friday, December 17 through Sunday, December 19, 2010, nineteen youth hockey teams from across the Midwest will descend on the Coral Ridge Ice Arena. The local youth hockey organization, Iowa City/Coralville Hockey Association (ICH), is hosting its third annual Holiday Face-Off Tournament this upcoming weekend.
The Tournament, which has more than tripled in size from previous years, will offer a landscape of balance and a high standard of competitiveness for total of 19 teams within the divisions of Mini-Mite (ages 6 and under), Mite (ages 8 and under), Squirt (ages 10 and under) and Peewee (ages 12 and under). Plans for the tournament include a three game guarantee for approximately 300 youth players, a raffle/silent auction, concessions stand, Locks for Love cutting and book signing of recent publication, "Hawkeye Greats, By the Numbers."
Throughout it all, we are committed to offering each and every family a rich experience as they continue to embark on the development of their children.
As a club hockey team, which receives no financial assistance form the school district or city and county offices, the Tournament will act as a much needed fundraiser for the ICH, and help offset player fees. However, this year's Tournament will also act as a huge financial boost for the local economy bringing teams such as Topeka, KS and Bloomington, IL into the area to stay in local hotels, eat in local restaurants, and of course, shop in the Coral Ridge Mall (where the ice arena is located the weekend) before the Holiday Season.
