CRAG'S SCHARES DOMINATES FIELD

CORALVILLE - Lilly Schares of the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics won five events at the Flip for Food meet last weekend.

Schares, in Level 3, won the vault, bars, beam, floor exercise and all around.

Other CRAG winners were Hailey Hakes, who captured the vault and bars in Level 4, and Riley Smith, who won the beam and floor in Level 5.

Other placewinners were Kylie Henry and Sophia Liu in Level 3, Natalie Freeman, Ava Andrews, Emma Kelsey and Lexie Goldsmith in Level 4.

Earlier this month at the Black Hawk Classic, Schares won the bars and all around. Other Level 3 winners were Henry (beam, floor) and Liu (floor, all around). Sidney Davidson won the beam, floor and all around in Level 4, Hakes won the vault and beam, Freeman the vault and Andrews the bars.

Placewinners were Addison Appelhans, Bethany Young and Lanie Wood in Level 3, Maanasa Chinnakonda, Jaeden Humphries, Autumn Poston, Goldsmith, Anna Weaver and Grace Walker in Level 4, and Riley Smith in Level 5.

TWISTERS SHINE AT FLIP FOR FOOD

CORALVILLE - Several members of the Twisters Gymnastics club won gold at the Flip for Food meet last weekend, including triple winner Elizabeth Tanner.

Tanner won the bars, floor exercise and all around in Level 4.

Other Level 4 winners were Sophia Barbieri (vault), Reese Miller (vault, floor) and Amera Nakuritimana (all-around).

In Level 3, Hallie Ruby (bars), Ava VanBerkum (floor), Shandin Gilbert (beam) and Kylie Link (bars) all won titles, as did Amelia Berger (bars, beam), Audrey Leno (vault), Chloe Schultz (bars), McKenna Haugen (beam) and Lyndsey Wheeler (all around) in Excel Silver; Hannah Roth (floor), Payton Basquin (floor) and Chloe Hamer (beam) in Excel Gold; Gretchen Gehrls (floor) in Excel Platinum; and Sarah Nolting (bars, floor) in Excel Diamond.

Twister placewinners were Alyssa Niemeier, Peyton Krotz and Loren Hungate in Level 3; Lauren Carnahan, Cora Spiegelhalter, Jasmine Hartney, Elizabeth Schultz and Taryn Bortz in Excel Silver; Brook Pladsen: Blair Pladsen, Anna Cater, Kaitlin Hotchkiss, Leah Crilley and Nicole Smith in Excel Gold; Aliyah Burtis in Excel Platinum; and Skylar Meyers in Excel Diamond.
