New Athletic Facility Opens in Marion

The DREAM: an indoor volleyball/basketball facility dedicated to the growth of opportunities for young athletes and adult athletes.

The REALITY: Many people have thought about and tried to make plans for years. NOW a location has been found allowing this DREAM to occur.  We need the COMMUNITY to be a MAJOR part of it!

Three volleyball people have joined together to get this done:

Loras Schaul – Rapid Spiker volleyball coach and board member.

Ted Moser – Rapid Spiker CEO and long time line judge at the University of Iowa and co-owner of V-Ball Gear in Marion.

Rick Blackwell – Mount Mercy University volleyball coach and long time USAV coach.

Make no mistake: This is not just a volleyball facility for club volleyball.  We are having adult volleyball leagues and will have basketball courts.  We have 4 courts with plenty of room.  We have 33,000 square feet of area.  We currently have training for Mount Mercy Track and private softball training.  When the facility is not in use for volleyball, there will be basketball and/or fitness activities happening at the facility!

The building owner, Busse Investments, has played a huge part in helping us get this venture underway.

The BENEFIT: This is a dedicated facility! People will walk in and say “WOW, this is a GREAT place to be!”  This will bring some of the top athletes from the entire midwest to this facility in Marion Iowa to compete.

There will be 160 athletes and their parents watching practicing each week-night and up to 390 total athletes and their parents in the facility for tournaments for at least 24 weekends EVERY year.
