That familiar left-handed shooting stroke Eastern Iowans came to know so well had a moment in Utah Friday night.
Former Linn-Mar star Marcus Paige drilled the decisive 3-pointer with 0.2 seconds left in the second overtime for the Salt Lake City Stars in a 110-109 NBA D-League win over the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
'Coach drew the play up for me at the timeout and said forget a tie, we're going for the win,” Paige said, via the team's website. 'That gave me a lot of confidence. We ran the play and it was wide open. I took one bounce and got the shot off.”
Paige started the game and tallied 16 points on 5-of-12 shooting, including 3-of-6 from deep, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Paige, who was drafted 55th overall by the Utah Jazz in June out of North Carolina, is averaging 11.7 points for Salt Lake City (4-13), the Jazz's D-League affiliate. He has struggled from 3-point range, shooting 31.4 percent in 15 games.
