KJ Pilcher will contribute via Twitter from Philadelphia as he watches all the matches and updates us on the Hawks still competing in the tournament.
Iowa's Matt McDonough (125 lbs.) will be competing for a national title, facing Arizona State's Anthony Robles, the top seed in the weight class.
Besides McDonough competing for his second-straight championship, the Hawkeyes still have many other competitors still in the running to place on Saturday.
Montell Marion (141 lbs.) will face Missouri's Todd Schavrien for a chance to take third place. If Marion defeats Schavrien, he will face the winner of James Kennedy (Illinois) and Michael Thorn (Minnesota) for third place. If Marion loses to Schavrien, he will still face the loser of the Kennedy-Thorn match for fifth place in 141.
Derek St. John (157 lbs.) goes against Northwestern's Jason Welch for a chance to take third place as well. If St. John wins, he'll face the winner of Adam Hall (Boise State) and Steve Fittery (American U). Just as with Marion, if St. John loses his first match tomorrow against Welch, he'll face the loser of Fittery-Hall in a fifth-place match at 157.
Luke Lofthouse (197 lbs.) will square off against Trevor Bandvold (Wisconsin) for a possible third place match as well. If Lofthouse wins, he'll face the winner of Cornell's Cam Simaz and Stanford's Zack Giesen.
Finally, Grant Gambrall (184 lbs.) hopes to cap off a surprise run in the tournament by defeating Joe LeBlanc (Wyoming) to wrestle for third place. If he beats LeBlanc, he'll face the winner of Christopher Honeycutt and Steve Bosak (Cornell).
